Divorce | ||
---|---|---|
The ratified and consummated marriage between the baptized whose sacramental marriage is blessed by the LORD God cannot be undone by worldly legal authority; spiritual oaths cannot be discounted by natural law. There are legitimate reasons for divorce like violence, abandonment, or affairs that subvert the sanctity of marriage; in these cases, release from the vows of marriage (divorce) is allowed by the Lord. However, remarriage endangers the new partners of unknowingly committing adultery should the divorce not be inside the acceptable limitations approved by God. Divorce is not necessarily a sin; but remarriage to another might be. (Seventh Commandment Violation, Exodus 20:14) |
